Lately

I got to visit Arizona about a month ago for a quick trip to be with my good friend, Paige on her wedding day.  It was especially fun because she married my brother's best friend so I was a bridesmaid and he was a groomsman.  Everything turned out beautifully and it was great to spend time with them on their special day!

We celebrated Halloween at Jimmy and Kira's house with all of our buddies.  That was a fun night!  We made our costumes all on our own and dressed up as stick figures.

The Whole Gang

We had a great vacation out to Cinncinati a few weeks ago.  It is always fun to be with the family and we were especially excited to see the newest addition, Taylor Hensley.  He was born prematurely and just got to go home from the hospital this week!  We are so excited about his progress!

While we were in Ohio, we also got to go to Dan and Sarah Impellizzeri's wedding, Tyler's close friends.  The wedding was beautiful and we had a great time celebrating with them!  Ty sure had a great time catching up with his friends from back home and it was fun for me to get to know them better.

Ty was SO excited to have the title of "Dr." for a night :)

It's hard to believe the semester is getting close to being done...another one down, one and a half to go (for me at least).  That is an exciting thought!  We're working hard and loving are crazy life!

Happy Thanksgiving this week!  We sure have a lot to be thankful for :)

All Sorts of New

The summer came and went pretty quickly...and if you ask me, maybe a little too quickly. Tyler has jumped into the MBA program at the U and is enjoying it so far. It is extremely busy for him, but he's excited about the program. I am back to school at BYU, driving three days a week down to P-town. We just keep plugging along and find the joys in our busy life.

I recently passed my certification test as a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer. I am very excited about that and I just started a new job at a personal training facility in Holladay called Fit Forever. It is a great company and will hopefully give me the experience I am looking for. So, if anyone in the Salt Lake area is in need of a personal trainer...look me up! I am trying to build up my clientele and any leads would be great!

Tyler and I are both enjoying our journey right now and feel so very blessed with all that we have. Life isn't a piece of cake, but we sure have a lot to be grateful for!

Happy 4th of July Weekend

We've have had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and it has been absolutely fabulous! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had Mondays off every week? I sure think so. Friday, Tyler and I went and saw Karate Kid and we loved it!! It was a really fun movie, so I'd definitely see it if I were you.

Saturday we went to Sugarhouse to Tyler's Aunt's house and celebrated the holiday with all the neighbors over there. Toward the end of the night, we decided to try out the good old tandem bike so we could go over to the park and watch the fireworks. Now, I'll admit I'm not really the adventurous type and this whole tandem thing was a little...okay a lot nerve racking for me. You can laugh all you want, but being on the back seat where you have no control over where the bike is going, can be scary. Well, don't worry we made it out alive and it turned out to be really fun, once I could loosen my grip on the handle bars a little bit.

Then on Sunday, my mom and sister came into town and we had dinner at my grandpa and grandmas house, which is always wonderful. Then we went to Park City to watch some more fireworks! They were amazing!! We had a lot of fun.

Today, we got to sleep in and relax during the day and grill out for dinner, and like I've said, it has just been wonderful! I must say, I am not especially excited to go back to school and work tomorrow, but it's a short week so we'll be okay. Hope you had a great weekend as well. I'm glad to be in such a wonderful country and for all those who have served and given their lives to protect our freedoms. We live in a wonderful nation! Happy 4th of July weekend!

Here are some pictures from our events this weekend. I know there aren't very many. I really am trying to take more pictures, it is just more difficult for me than normal people I think...

Catch Up

Well, I guess I haven't been a very good blogger lately. With finals this past week, it has been a little crazy, to say the least. I am so glad to have some more classes out of the way and it was great to have a little break from school this weekend before starting summer term on Monday.

Memorial Day weekend we got to fly out to Cincinnati to visit Tyler's family and to celebrate our wedding again...yes, five months later....no big deal. It was a blast! I finally got to meet Ty's friends from high school that I have heard so much about and I always love being with his family. My family was able to fly out as well and it was great to have everyone there!

We had a great vacation and we always wish we can stay longer!

AZ Trip Update

I was informed today by both my husband and my dad that I did not put enough emphasis on their mountain biking adventure in the desert in my last post. Tyler, my brother Marcus and my dad had a great time soaking up the sun, and all the dirt, I might add. My dad sent me some great pictures of the boys doing their thang. Enjoy!

Weekend in the Sun

We got to take a little vacation down to Arizona this weekend for my friend Lexi Whiteman's wedding. It was so neat to be able to be a part of her wedding and to be in the Temple for their sealing. Everything turned out wonderfully. We also enjoyed the beautiful Arizona weather, as always. We didn't want to have to come back to rainy Utah so quickly.

Here are the newlyweds coming out of the Temple

Tyler, Riley, and Sterling with their lemonade "martinis"

It was fun to see my family for a short weekend. Saturday the boys went mountain biking while the girls went and got pedicures, and then that night we all went out to dinner and saw Iron Man 2 (definitely recommend it) and enjoyed Mother's Day on Sunday.

Dinner at Kona Grille at San Tan Mall

The waiter accidentally cut David out of the previous picture so we took another one for him.

It was really fun to be with my mom on Mother's Day. I love and appreciate all she has done for me over all the years. I wouldn't be who I am today without her. And although we weren't able to visit with Tyler's parents this weekend because they were up north attending to their job as missionaries, we appreciate all they do for us. I'm glad I have gained another great mom in my life!

Time for a Change

The Winter Semester has finally come to an end and we are proud to say we made it out alive! Even though I start school again on Tuesday, it is so nice to know that I have 14 more credits under my belt and things are just moving along nicely. Sometimes it doesn't seem fast enough, but in retrospect time is flying by!!

In the midst of finals week, somehow we decided it would be a great time to move. We've spent the last week scheduling our time with packing up what seemed like a million boxes and studying until our eyes fell out. The good news is they both paid off! Tyler and I did well on our finals and we are thrilled to be living in a new place! We moved to Holladay on Thursday and we have a lot of work to do, but we are happy to be here for the next while.

The end of this semester also meant Tyler graduated! My parents flew out for the celebration and Tyler's mom, Debbie, came up to surprise him. I wish I could have captured the look on his face when he saw her in the condo waiting for us. It was great! We missed his dad who is busy with the missionaries in Phoenix, but it was great to have Debbie and my parents here for a short trip.

And the biggest news lately......Tyler got accepted to graduate school at the University of Utah!!!! He starts in the fall to pursue his MBA in Business Marketing. I am sooooo happy for him and he is thrilled! Now, we will be a half blue and half red couple :)

What we've been doing lately

Yes, I realize it has been a long time since I've updated this thing. Here is the latest news of the Beck's here in Provo:

Tyler accepted his internship offer in Salt Lake with the Buckner Company. We just sold our contract for our apartment here in Provo and will be moving to Holladay the end of April. We are excited for a little change and to be close to family up there!

We have watched a lot of basketball over the last month...and I mean A LOT!! It was a sad day to see the Jayhawks lose in the second round of March Madness, but luckily we recovered after a few days. Nothing in our apartment was broken and I was grateful for that. Ty has still been dedicated to watching the games and is looking forward to the final game tomorrow night, not more than I am though :).

We made Easter eggs with our friends Jimmy and Kira over the weekend. This was Tyler's first experience with dying eggs for Easter. We had a lot of fun! We did decide though that holidays like Easter are a lot more fun with kids around when we can have a big Easter egg hunt and have them so excited about all the candy they get. Well, maybe in a couple years we can do that.

Tyler sent in his application for graduate school at the University of Utah this past week. He is hoping to attend the U in the Fall for his MBA. Tyler has worked so hard to do well on his GMAT and send in all the requirements for the program. I am so proud of him! Now we just wait to hear back from them, hopefully in the next couple of weeks.

We've been to a couple of movies, and out to dinner with friends. Other than that, we are just keeping busy with school and work. We have two weeks left of classes (YAY!!!!) and then finals. We are looking forward to the semester coming to the end and for warm weather to start coming our way!!

And the Winner Is...

Tyler has been working very hard the last couple of weeks trying to find an internship for the summer. One thing he applied for was an internship competition at the BYU Marriott School. The end prize is an internship offer with one of the three companies participating. This competition consisted of a number of undergraduates who had to go through interviews, submit an executive summary, and create a small speech about why they are best for the job. On Wednesday night they had a large event and Tyler was one of nine finalists (three for each company). He gave his "elevator speech" about himself and HE WON!!! They chose him to have an internship for the Buckner Company which is based out of Salt Lake. We are still working out details to see if this is the best option for us for the summer, but we are both very excited!! I was a very proud wife that night :)
